Dr. Emma Thomson

Dr. Emma Thomson is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the MRC CVR and a Consultant in Infectious Diseases in Greater Glasgow and Clyde. She trained in infectious diseases in London and carried out her PhD at Imperial College London and the University of Oxford.
Emma is funded by a Wellcome Trust fellowship to investigate the early immune response to Hepatitis C infection and by the MRC to investigate new and emerging HCV genotypes in the UK and in sub-Saharan Africa. She co-ordinates the Acute HCV UK and is a member of the STOP HCV consortium.
In 2014, she drafted the first guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of Hepatitis C for the World Health Organisation and now serves on the HCV WHO guidelines committee.
